If someone donates men’s clothes to a shelter but the shelter is only in need of clothes for young children and toddlers, this donation would not create the kind of positive impact that you are hoping for.

Now that donation would not only go to waste, but it would also become a burden for the charity organization to manage the inventory of the items not required in the first place, adding unnecessary work to the busy schedule of the charity workers doing a lot more important and result-driven tasks directly improving the lives of the victims.

Also, just donating used items can become a logistic problem for the charity organization, picking them from one place and delivering them to the other.

Yes, we do understand that your decision of helping out the disaster victims has an emotional tone to it. Yet, you must not lose your cool and never donate in a haste which would lead to a total waste, resulting in frustration, and a missed opportunity to make a real impact.
